| "The experience infused our students with a level of excitement and a feeling of accomplishment in their writing abilities. Students at ICS represent over 40 countries, some just arriving to America from distant shores, never having spoken a word of English. These students were not daunted by the challenge. They were confident during the process and the feeling was contagious as each student strove to be creative and expressive in their poems.

We had a wonderful time at the International Community School (ICS) celebrating I Love To Write Day with ninety-two fifth and sixth grade students and their teachers. Mrs. United Nations U.S. 2007, Angelique Harville, joined us for the day. The students enjoyed the activities which included writing poetry, creating bookmarks and helping to develop the ICS Book of Poetry. This book is an incredible work of poetic expression from the hearts of these talented children. (Read about the ICS located in Decatur, GA)
I Love To Write Day is an annual event created by John Riddle, freelance writer and author, for the past 30 years, as a grassroots effort to have people of all ages practice their writing skills. This event is currently recognized in nine states. The Sleep Pea Angel Literacy Organization, Inc. wants to make Georgia the tenth state to recognize I Love To Write Day as an annual event for schools.
